LAUNCH OF SURVIVING CYBER!
WHAT IS SURVIVING CYBER?
Welcome to Surviving Cyber, a new initiative designed to help small business owners in Ireland and the United Kingdom prepare their Pathway to Peace of mind from cyber risk.
The initial offering
is a website found at www.survivingcyber.com and
an online education course called Surviving Cyber – the small business owner’s Pathway to Peace of Mind
from cyber risk.
WHO IS BEHIND THIS INITIATIVE?
My name is John Byrne and I am an entrepreneur with over 30 years’ experience as a financial risk assessment expert in the insurance industry. My last role was as Chief Risk Officer of an insurance business that I co-founded at Lloyd’s of London, the insurance market. I am currently co-founder of an InsurTech firm called Cyber Plus Solutions, that provides a cyber risk management platform to medium-sized businesses.
Both Surviving Cyber
and Cyber Plus Solutions make available the knowledge that I have gathered
during my long career and especially during the last 10 years when cyber risk
became more of a focus for me.
THE SURVIVING CYBER WEBSITE
The Surviving Cyber website launches today. Its purpose is to educate the owners of small businesses about cyber risk and to provide information on the online educational course. Surviving Cyber is a registered business name of my company, Solenco Ltd.
Within the website,
you will find a Blog, a Learning Centre, more information about my background
and the details of the educational course.
THE SURVIVING CYBER COURSE
The Surviving Cyber online pilot course launches today also. The course a collaborative and engaging online learning experience presented live online to a small group of business owners. The course consists of 4 one-hour modules covering:
- How the right mindset will prepare you to handle this key business risk
- How to adopt a 5-step strategy that leads to cyber resilience
- How to significantly reduce your exposure to the most common internet threats
- How to create a draft tactical plan for your business
- In the 5th module, you will review your Pathway with me, and we’ll discuss implementation plans.
In this course, I teach the mindset and strategy required and help you begin creating a tactical plan for your business. Together these three components form the Pathway to Peace of Mind, so you can begin to manage cyber risk as a business risk.
If you would like to
join the course, click on the ‘Register for the Course’ button on the website,
and complete your information.
WHY AM I LAUNCHING SURVIVING CYBER NOW?
I have been on a learning journey with cyber risk for most of the last 10 years and would
like to share what I have learned with small business owners. The risks to
small businesses are very real and can be potentially catastrophic. I believe that I can help small business owners to understand
this critical business risk by communicating with them as a fellow business
owner.
My focus is on
managing the risk, not on IT. My hope for course participants is to avoid the
costs, both human and financial, that I have experienced to acquire my knowledge
so they can improve the cyber resilience of their business.
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR SURVIVING CYBER?
My hope is that the pilot course is successful and adds real value to participants' businesses. If so, there are a number of possibilities. The pilot course could be repeated with a new group of businesses or I could move straight to producing the commercial version of the course for a bigger audience. It all depends on the course outcome.
In the longer term, I could produce other courses for small business owners on topics related to the management of digital risks and opportunities. Social Channels could also be developed to present my own original content and curate helpful third-party content.
WHAT'S YOUR NEXT MOVE?
If you like the sound of the course, Surviving Cyber – the small business owner’s Pathway to Peace of Mind from cyber risk, you can register for the course on any of the website pages. If seats on the Pilot course are not available at that time, you can join the waiting list for future courses. You can also join the Surviving Cyber email list to receive ongoing communication from me. I look forward to getting to know you.
